Chipped or broken teeth are a fairly common problem. They are never to be taken lightly, but on the whole, they aren’t that serious and can be treated very effectively with one of several different cosmetic dentistry techniques.

- Bonding. This is a simple procedure and ideal for smaller, less complicated chipped teeth. A composite material is molded and shaped over the tooth.
- Veneers. Porcelain veneers are thin ceramic shells that are attached to the front of the tooth. Veneers are good for more serious chips, breaks, and cracks.
- Crowns. Dental crowns cover the entire tooth, and are good for really serious breaks.
- Dental implants. In really serious cases, such as a tooth that is broken at or below the gum line, a dental implant may be in order. Whatever remains of the tooth and its root will be extracted and the implant, a titanium post, is inserted in its place. An artificial tooth is fitted to the post.
